Willard Lady Tigers open season with victory over Glendale Lady Falcons

Both the Willard High School girls and boys basketball teams opened the 2019-20 season with wins, as the Lady Tigers knocked off Glendale and boys defeated Springfield Central.
The Willard girls team hosted Glendale on Monday, Nov. 25, and easily knocked off the Lady Falcons, 58-32.
Willard jumped out to a
14-6 first quarter lead and increased that lead to 24-9 by the half. The Lady Tigers continued to roll in the third quarter, outscoring Glendale, 19-12 to increase their lead to 43-22 by the end of the third quarter. Willard added 15 more points in the fourth quarter to win the game by 26 points.
“I was impressed with how our Lady Tigers started the season,” said head coach J.J. Adamson. “We graduated six seniors this past year and have some new faces on the varsity roster but we showed very well tonight. I really like this group and think we will continue to grow and improve all season. I hope they enjoy this win. It’s a great way to start the season.”
Kaitlyn Burson led Willard with 23 points; Megan Mahan added 13 points, Brielle Adamson chipped in eight points and Addalyn
Adamson ended the game with six points.
Willard will continue their home stand as they will host the Tri-State Classic, start- ing tomorrow and running through Saturday.
On the boys side, Wil- lard hosted and defeated Springfield Central, 72-40 on Tuesday, Nov. 26. The Tigers will also be competing in the Tri-State Classic this week.
