Willard Tiger football loses to Republic Tigers

2025 season comes to an end for Lady Tigers softball, volleyball teams
 
The Willard high school football team headed to Class 5, fifth-ranked Republic on Friday, Oct. 24 and lost 59-7.
Republic led 30-0 after the first quarter and 51-0 at the half, The Tigers added another touchdown in the third quarter to increase their lead to 59-0. James Slaughter scored the only touchdown for Willard on a four-yard rush in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 59-7.
Kaiden Snyder was 11-33 for 138 yards passing, Slaughter had 69 yards on seven carries with a touchdown and Greyson Walden had 78 yards on four catches.
Willard is 1-8 on the season and will face Republic in a rematch this Friday night in a first round Class 5, District 6 playoff game at Republic.
Carthage finished first in the district standings with 45.79 points, followed by Republic (44.75), Webb City (40.67), Branson (39.57), Neosho (35.39), Parkview (27.22) and Willard (18.01).

Softball
The 2025 softball season has come to end for Willard after a 5-3, 10-inning loss in the championship game of the Class 4, District 6 tournament in Marshfield on Monday, Oct. 20.
The Lady Tigers took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but Marshfield tied it up in the top of the second. The Lady Jays added single runs in the top of the fourth and sixth innings to increase their lead to 3-1. Willard tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Marshfield scored two tuns in the top of the tenth inning to win the game.
Kynlee Inman was 3-4 with a double and two RBIs, Emily Barr went 1-4 with an RBI and DeLaney Dixon pitched 10 innings, allowing seven hits, five runs, one earned with three strike outs. Willard finished their season with a school record 31 wins.

Volleyball
The 2025 season also came to an end for the Lady Tigers volleyball team after their three-set loss to Carl Junction in the semifinals of the Class 4, District 6 tournament in Webb City on Saturday, Oct. 25. Willard reached the semifinals by defeating McDonald County in three sets in the opening round on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
Willard finished their season with a 22-11-4 record.

Soccer
The Tigers boys’ soccer team hosted and defeated Republic 2-0 on Thursday, Oct. 23. Willard opened the week by traveling to Joplin on Tuesday and winning 1-0.
Willard is now 18-5 on the season and were scheduled to host their final regular season game last night against Carthage.
The Tigers are the top seed in the Class 3, District 4 tournament, that will be played in Springfield starting on Monday, Nov. 3. The semifinals will be played on Thursday, Nov. 6 with the championship game taking place on Monday, Nov. 10.
After Willard, Carl Junction is seeded second, followed by McDonald County, Springfield Central, Webb City, Parkview, Hillcrest and Marshfield.
