Your Health Consultant provides a variety of medical, therapy services

New Ash Grove business helps those with brain injuries, mobility issues
 
In 2014, Susan Klotz’s father suffered a severe stroke. Even though she was a nurse practitioner, she
didn’t feel she could give him the care he needed. This led her to begin working in a new field of
medicine.
“I realized then that there was a severe gap in healthcare relating to physical medicine, and I wanted to
try to fill that gap,” she said. “In 2015, I started working in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PMR) in
Springfield.”
Five years later, Klotz went into business for herself.
“This past May I started and opened Your Health Consultant, an independent PMR clinic so that I may
provide the functional and mobility needs of those in our community,” she said.
Your Health Consultant, Klotz said, provides “personalized care and support to individuals with special
abilities and adaptive needs so that they may be as comfortable and as independent as possible.” Many
of her services are provided virtually or at the patients’ homes, though office visits are also available.
“We work to ensure individuals have the durable medical equipment and mobility devices needed for
community access and independence,” she said. “We manage individuals with cerebral palsy, brain
injury, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, debility, or any other condition affecting one’s function or
mobility. We also provide spasticity care, including intrathecal baclofen pumps, bracing, and therapy
management. We also provide caregiver support and will soon have a behavioral practitioner available
for our patients and family to assist with mental health and wellbeing.”
Klotz added that she enjoys working with the people who utilize her services, and that she has learned a
great deal from them.
“We have the best patients in the world,” she said. “Each of our patients are unique and we treasure
them for their individual abilities. Many of our patients have taught us life lessons on the deficiency in
accessible communities and how to conquer those issues. They have taught us to stay positive in the
darkest of times and to celebrate every accomplishment regardless of how small. We have learned that
‘normal’ is a setting on a washing machine, not a description of an individual.”
Those wanting a chance to learn more about Your Health Consultant will have the opportunity on
Saturday, May 1, in Ash Grove when the clinic will hold its grand opening. Klotz said it will be a fun time.
“We will have clothing, art, crafts, as well as medical equipment vendors and more,” she said. “We also
are going to have a fun zone with adaptive carnival games for everyone to enjoy.”
Another feature of Your Health Consultant’s grand opening will be a booth for Art For Care, where
artwork by the Your Health Consultant team will be available for purchase.
“All proceeds will go towards pharmaceutical costs to help offset insurance payment delays we have
experienced, because we are an independently ran nurse practitioner clinic as well as a new business,”
Klotz said.
Klotz added that she will help anyone who needs what Your Health Consultant can provide. In her eyes,
everyone is deserving of care.
“Everyone’s health is worth my time,” she said. “I see people when they need me, so that they are
receiving the personalized attention and care they need and deserve.”

The grand opening of Your Health Consultant will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 1,
