Delveta (Day) Haden

Delveta (Day) Haden, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019, at Cox Medical Center after a sudden and short illness.
Haden was born Aug. 3, 1932, in Rome, Mo., to Ira and Lotus (Solo- mon) Day. She graduated in 1952 from Ava High School and continued her education at Southwest Missouri State Teacher’s College where she re- ceived her teacher’s certificate. After college, she taught eight grade levels for two full years at a one room school house near Ava.
Haden was a dedicated wife and mother. She and Loren Haden wed March 12, 1955, in Ava. They spent their first few years of marriage in Kennewick, Wash., then moved to Springfield, in 1962 where they raised five children.
She was a homemaker, but also ran an in-home day- care for many years and sold Avon. She enjoyed sewing, oil painting and cooking for her family. She belonged to a garden club in Springfield, and was an active mem- ber in her church. She ran the nursery at First General Baptist church for many years, loving countless babies as her own.
Haden was preceded in death by her parents Ira and Lotus Day, her son Keith Haden and her grandson Jim- my Haden.
She is survived by her husband Loren Haden; her children, Kirk and Susan Haden of Aurora; Kamela Gibbs of Battlefield; Kelly Haden of Springfield; Katrice and Brent Switzer of Springfield; her daughter-in-law, Brenda Haden of Rogersville; 10 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren; Sister Iris Jenkins and brother-in-law Chester Jenkins of Rogersville; sister-in- law Venita Day and her husband, Leo of Nixa, sister-in- law Betty Haden of South Fulton, Tenn.; and a multi- tude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
