Lorraine Cunningham
Lorraine Cunningham, 98, of Everton, passed away July 12, 2019 at the Ash Grove Health Care Facility.
She was born Feb. 23, 1921 to John and Blanch (Taylor) Herihy in southern California.
During World War II, she met U.S. Army soldier James Cunningham; they were married in Battle Creek, Mich. She joined the Women’s Army Corp. where she was a telephone operator.
They went from Long Beach to Everton where their son, Alan was born. They had a dairy, grain and hay farm; later they switched to beef cattle.
Cunningham was active in the Everton P.T.A., class parties, school carnivals and attending basketball games. She worked for several years at the Dunbrooke jacket company in Greenfield. After the passing of her husband she stayed on the farm and went to Mt. Ver- non Nursing Home. Later she went to the Ash Grove Assisted Living. She entered into the Ash Grove Health Care Facility after a fall.
She is survived by: son, Alan (Tammy); and grand- daughters, Jessica Cunningham of Springfield and Jamie Bohanan (Michael) of Everton. She was preceded in death by: her parents; step-parents; and husband.
Services were held at Hopewell Baptist Church in Everton July 15, 2019. Burial followed in Sinking Creek Cemetery in Everton under the direction of Birch Fu- neral Home in Ash Grove. Memorials may be made to the Ash Grove Health Care Facility Auxiliary.
