Ash Grove football shut out by solid Miller defense, combined with by impressive offense

In football, the Pirates were shut out for the third time this season, falling at home to a powerful Miller Cardinal team, 55-0. The majority of the visitor’ s points, 35, were scored in the first quarter. The mercy clock ran the entire second half.
No statistics were pro- vided by the Ash Grove coaching staff for this game. This was the fourth time this season that Miller has scored
at least 48 points and they are currently averaging 50 points a game.
With the loss, Ash Grove fell to seventh place in the Class 1, District 2 standings with 27.9 points. Thayer leads the district with 60 points; followed by Miller and Pierce City, each with 50.5 points, Cabool with 46.5 points, Marionville with 34.56 points, Sarcoxie with 28.61 points, Ash Grove and Diamond with 20.2 points.
The Pirates are now 2-3 on the season, which is now beyond the halfway point, and will travel to play the Lockwood Tigers this Friday night.
