Helen Louise Blades

Helen Louise Blades, 99, of Republic, passed away on July 3, 2020.
Blades, the daughter of Ralph and Florella (Biglieni) Blades was born Feb. 2,
1921. At the age of 9 she was saved and joined Blades Chapel Church. She
served as secretary and treasurer for many years.
She worked at Wood Garment Factory in Republic during World War 2 making
pants for the soldiers. Later she worked at Biglieni Hardware store and then
retired working for Republic Junior High School as a cook.
As her parents became ill she stayed at home to care for them. After their
deaths this unique lady was an avid doll collector and was known for her
intricate sewing of doll clothing. She also became the family historian.
Blades was a member of the Ladies Quilting Club and Republic History
Museum. She loved working in her yard and flowers while her health
permitted.
Blades is survived by cousins’ children which she enjoyed very much. She
also was blessed to have friends that were like family and her church.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be left in Blades’ name to Blades
Chapel or Wade Cemetery and may be left at the funeral home.
