The Greene County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) is investigating the death of a Bois D’Arc man that has been deemed as suspicious. S t a n l e y Scott Simon II was found dead in his home just south of Hood’s Truck Stop on Tuesday, Oct. 20 after sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the location for a wellness check. At the time of the wellness check, Simon’s vehicle, a white 2004 Chevrolet 3500 Quad Cab Dually, was discovered to be missing from the scene.
The truck was recovered on Saturday, Oct. 24. According to information provided by the GCSO, a Springfield police officer spotted the truck being driven south on Kansas Expressway in Springfield, near I-44.
Springfield Police officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver turned off its lights and eluded them. The truck was later found near the intersection of West Farm Road 165 and Burntwood. The suspected driver, described as a white male in his mid-20s, with a slender build, scruffy beard and wearing a camo jacket, was seen running west from that location.
It was later reported that Riley Collier, Republic, who matched the description of the suspect had been taken into custody in Webster County on unrelated charges.
A deputy with the GCSO declined to answer any questions regarding the investigation, stating “we will release more information when feasible.”
