Downtown buzzes with Old Time Christmas on Main

Santa Claus poses for pictures with a family during early festivites of the inaugural Christmas gathering. Santa had helpers from Ash Grove’s Project Graduation assist in the photo shoots.

Despite cold temps, the gloved Ash Grove High School brass players managed a good performance to open the Old Time Christmas on Main event, Saturday.

Inaugural holiday event draws hundreds to Ash Grove

Cold weather was no match Saturday in downtown Ash Grove for the swelling Christmas spirit of locals wanting a reason to celebrate. In the stead of the annual Christmas parade was Old Time Christmas on Main, a holiday gathering with a slew of activities including gingerbread house making, a children’s pageant, Polar Express readings, horse-drawn wagon rides, Celtic dancing, Ash Grove High School Band and a miniature donkey name Eeyore.
Although temperatures never reached the 40s, one city official estimated attendance of the afternoon-evening affair to be between 700 to 850 people.
