Dorene Larey (Cook) Stewart

Dorene Larey (Cook) Stewart passed away June 2, 2021. She was born May 11, 1929, in Nixon, Texas, to Elbert and Ruthie (Lutz) Cook. She moved with her parents to Paradise Valley, Ariz., where she attended school. In 1943, the family moved to Sparta.
She left Sparta in 1949 and moved to San Jose, Calif., where she was employed by Kelly Springfield Tire Company, and was a bookkeeper.
She was employed by Revlon Corporation and retired from there in May of 1991. After retirement, she made her home in Nevada, until she moved to Republic in 2000.
Stewart is preceded in death by her father, E.R. Cook, her mother Ruthie Alberta Cook, brother Jerald Norman Cook and three sisters, Velma Shropshire, Joyce Young and Loris Cook.
She is survived by three sisters, Martha Jean Weeks of Luling, Texas, Wanda Barnes of Republic, and Ora Lee and husband Ed Greenstreet, of Logan N.M., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were at 1 p.m. June 7, 2021, at Evergreen Cemetery in Republic.
