Republic wins three COC swim medals; Martin medals at Springfield Invitational

Bryce Martin finished first in his freestyle race at the COC championships in Webb City.

All three Republic swimmers won an individual medal at the Central Ozark Conference
championship in Webb City. Brady Lewis and Seth Lock finished 1-2 in the 100-yard
butterfly with times of 1:00.03 and 1:02.27, respectively. Bryce Martin was the winner of
the 100-yard freestyle race. He cut nearly a second off his previous best this season and
set a new school record with a time of 52.44.
At the Springfield Invitational Saturday, Martin won Republic's only medal, finishing fifth
in a field of 26 swimmers in the 100-yard individual medley. Although he failed to medal
in the 100-yard breaststroke, his time of 1:07.92 was a team record.
Friday, he had set another team record, swimming the 50-yard freestyle in 23.32 to beat
his own previous mark of 23.55.
