Lady Pirate softballers fall to Strafford, Mt. Vernon

Pirate baseball splits two games at Pleasant Hope, looks to Diamond, Marshfield contests
The Ash Grove High School spring sports season is now in full swing, with the Lady Pirates traveling to Strafford last week and the Pirates baseball team taking part in the Pleasant Hope Grand Slam Early Bird Invitational.
On Friday, March 25, the Ash Grove softball team traveled to Strafford and came home with a 9-3 loss. Strafford scored one run in the second inning, four runs in the third inning, three runs in the fourth inning and one run in the sixth inning. The Lady Pirates got their three runs all in the top of the sixth inning.
Maddie Mobley had two hits, an RBI and a run scored, she also recorded five strikeouts and walked two, while pitching for Ash Grove. Chelsye Graham had a hit and an RBI and Morgan Crow, Chelsey Andrus, Ashlyn Gerla and Madi Grube all had a hit for the Lady Pirates.
Ash Grove is now 1-5 on the season and were scheduled for a busy week, including a contest against Mt. Vernon on Monday, where Ash Grove fell 8-3, Diamond last night and Fair Grove on Saturday. The Lady Pirates will also travel to Clever tomorrow
night.
Baseball
In baseball, the Pirates made the trip to Pleasant Hope on Saturday, March 26, and came back after splitting their two games. Ash Grove lost to Marionville in eight innings, 3-2, but beat Montrose with Appleton and Ballard, 11-1.
Ash Grove is 1-1 on the season and were scheduled to travel to Mansfield last night and Diamond tomorrow night.
