Lady Pirate softball keeps rolling, climbs to 11-7 overall

Pirate baseball shuts out host Sarcoxie Bears, lays on monster offense
 
The Ash Grove High School baseball and softball teams went a combined 3-1 last week with wins over Sarcoxie, Miller and Marionville.
Softball
In softball, the Lady Pirates traveled to Miller on Thursday, April 14, and came home with an 11-1 victory.
After two scoreless innings, Ash Grove put up three runs in the third inning, one run in the fourth inning, and seven runs in the fifth inning.
Jamalyn Atkinson went deep for Ash Grove with a grand slam in the fifth inning. Ashlyn Gerla and Chelsye Graham each had three hits and Madison Lutz and Emma McClelland each collected two hits in the win.
On Tuesday, April 12, the Lady Pirates hosted Marionville and once again came away with a victory, winning 9-1.
The Lady Pirates scored seven runs in the second inning and single tallies in the third and fifth innings. Morgan Crow had two hits and scored two runs in the victory.
Ash Grove has now run their record to 11-7 and were scheduled to host Hollister, Monday, and Pierce City last night before traveling to Lockwood tomorrow night.
Baseball
The Pirates traveled to Sarcoxie on Thursday, April 14, and came home with an impressive 19-0 shutout win.
Ash Grove scored single runs in the first, second and third innings and eight runs in both the fourth and fifth innings.
Ash Grove’s Elijah Morrison was 2-4 with three runs scored and an RBI, Cooper Burks went 2-3 with three runs scored and an RBI, Parker Crow was 3-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs, and Tyler Tummons finished 2-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Ash Grove started the week hosting Marion C. Early but came up short, losing 4-2.
MCE scored two runs on the top of the first inning, but the Pirates tied up the game with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth inning. MCE would regain the lead in the top of the fifth inning and add an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning to secure the win.
Tummons finished 1-3 with an RBI and Bryce Davis was 1-3 with an RBI.
Ash Grove is now 6-2 on the season and were scheduled to host Stockton last night before traveling to Marionville tomorrow night, and Mount Vernon, Friday.
