GRACE HENSON

Grace Henson, 97, of Republic passed away with her loving daughters by her side on Feb. 28, 2023.
Henson was born on April 19, 1925, in Russell Springs, Ky. to O.C. and Maude (Abrell) Evans.
Henson grew up and spent most of her life in Russell County, Ky. She married Alvin Henson on Dec. 17, 1945, and they had two daughters, Betty, and Barbara.
Later in life, they relocated to Indianapolis, Ind. and then finally to Republic, to be closer to family. They shared 53 amazing years together, until his passing in 1998. Due to her failing mental and physical health, Henson had been a resident at The Manor at Elfindale in Springfield, for the past seven years. She resided in the memory care unit at the time of her passing.
Henson is preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband Alvin, siblings, Waldo Evans, Esco Evans and Lindo Evans.
Henson is survived by her daughters, Betty J. Neal and husband Wes Weaver of Brookline, and Barbara J. Ford of Springfield; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as other extended family and countless friends.
A visitation was from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Meadors Funeral Home in Republic (314 N Main Ave). Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Lee Miller officiating. Burial will be next to her husband at Evergreen Cemetery.
