Ash Grove moves to next round of T-Mobile’s Friday night 5G Lights, earns $25,000 for athletics program

Shown here, T-Mobile representatives, flanked by students and Ash Grove Superintendent Shane Medlin, stand with a $25,000 check to be awarded to Ash Grove School District. The money, part of a nationwide program dubbed “Friday Night 5G Lights,” distributes funding to districts to be used in upgrading athletics facilities. The program asks locals to vote for their hometown schools, with the eventual winner receiving a check for $1 million.

Ash Grove is a finalist in the program, the only school in Missouri still in the race for the million. Thus far, the school has received a check for $5,000 and at the football game on Oct. 16, $25,000.

Out of the 10 schools still in the running for the grand prize, Ash Grove sits at sixth place on the leaderboard with 17,896 votes. First place is McClain High School in Greenfield, Ohio with 123,106 votes. Though this may seem insurmountable, voters can cast their ballot more than once, up to once per day.
