A Republic woman has been charged with assault following an alleged disagreement over shampoo according to authorities.

Court documents state that Haley Charboneau, born in 2000, attacked a victim, leaving her “bleeding uncontrollably.”

The probable cause statement filed by the Republic Police Department states that, when authorities arrived to 300 S. Cottonwood in Republic on Oct. 18, Charboneau struck the victim in front of an officer.

The responding officer reported seeing patches of hair that looked to belong to the victim and a pool of blood on the ground.

The responding officer noted that the victim had abrasions and bleeding on her nose, redness and swelling around their eyes and bruising on different areas of the head. The officer also reported that the victim’s scalp was bare, as their hair had been pulled out. An avulsion was also present on the top of their head.

The probable cause statement asserts that the victim would require continuing care and follow-up visits with a surgeon to correct the damage.

According to court documents, Charboneau said she “blacked out” after becoming upset with the victim over shampoo and conditioner.

The report continues, stating that a witness saw Charboneau punch the victim in the face and head and pull her hair. She also drug the victim to the ground where she continued to punch and kick them.

The victim said that, in another altercation, Charboneau pulled her to the ground by the hair and repeatedly struck her in the face.

Charboneau has been charged with second degree assault, a class D felony. She is being held in the Greene County Jail on a $25,000 bond. She has a bond review hearing scheduled for Oct. 28.
