Gene Vestal has been named the next administrator for Ash Grove Healthcare Facility, a Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation long-term care facility.
An EF-0 tornado swept through the Wilson’s Creek area in the early morning hours of Monday, Oct. 21, causing considerable damage, but no death or injuries.

This year’s Pumpkin Daze, held Oct 5, saw some records broken in the produce competition. First, Richard Bottorf, a Republic resident, set a new state record for the largest grown pumpkin in Missouri with two huge pumpkins he entered into the contest.
In February, the Greene County Commonwealth reported that Ed Hurley spoke to the Ash Grove Board of Alderman about a plan he had to develop his 120-acres of farmland into a 200-home housing development. For now, however, that development is on hold.
A man robbed the Dollar General store in Republic on Sunday, Oct. 13 at around 7 p.m.
According to a statement provided by Lt. Jamie Burks of the Republic Police Department, the suspect is an unknown white male who stands about 5’ 8”.
A chili cookoff will be held in the Republic High School commons area Friday, Oct. 18 starting at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $6 for a bottomless bowl and includes a dessert and drink.
