Joann Julia Schmidt, 83, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 12:20 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, 2019, at the Cox South Hospital in Springfield. She was born Feb. 17, 1936, in St. Ignace, Mich., the daughter of Lawrence and Bernetta (Burton) Soeltner.
