Springfield homebuilder Rusty MacLachlan has announced his candidacy for the offfice of Greene County Commissioner District 1. MacLachlan pointed to his experience in construction as a homebuilder and business owner as an asset to the residents of Greene County.

The Boy Scouts from Republic Troop 174 kept busy during the afternoon of Saturday, Dec. 7, as they retired about 200 American flags in a flag retirement pit at J.R. Martin Park. Members of the Cub Scouts and the Girl Scouts helped retire flags as well.

On Thanksgiving Morning, Thursday, Nov. 28, a day known for indulgent eating, about 360 people gathered at the Willard Middle School to take part in the Eighth Annual Willard Turkey Trot, a 5K walk/run event which benefits the Care to Learn program in Willard.
At five minutes until 6 a.m Black Friday morning, a crowd of more than 30 people gather in close quarters of the lobby of Lowe’s in Republic while the doors into the store are opened. Lowe’s accommodated the crowd with free cookies and coffee for those making the early entrance.
