The Ash Grove city park has been the recipient of renewed focus from the city government. Many projects are currently underway to restore, repurpose and overhaul the amenities offered at the city park.
The Ash Grove Cemetery board is looking for volunteers, as many of their current pool are no longer able to do the work required to upkeep the area. The board is also looking for citizens to help on the administrative side of things and the board itself, as officers age.

Republic’s 30th annual Have-A-Blast festival continued as scheduled despite flash flood warnings and inopportune weather. J.R. Martin Park, the venue for the festival, was muddy from exceptional rainfall days prior, but that didn’t stop attendees from showing up in force to pack the park.

The Springfield Fire Department water rescue team has reduced its search and rescue operations on Lake Springfield after rescuing one and finding the bodies of two Willard teens on June 16-17, respectively. The mother of the three girls, Taylor Stawny, has yet to be located.

The president of the Republic School District Board of Education, Terry McConnell, has been charged with domestic assault in the fourth degree. The charge stems from an incident on June 20 in which he held a gun to his head and injured a victim who tried to take the weapon from him.
