The Republic soccer team lost a 3-0 decision to Ozark in the district quarterfinals, bringing the season to a close. Ozark scored one goal in the first half and two more after the break to put Republic away.

Two girls and one boy from the Republic cross country team will compete at the state championship Friday in Columbia. Gracie Troester, Kristin Probst and Brady Purcell all qualified with top-30 finishes at the Class 5 District 2 race at Nixa, Saturday.

Parkview’s first offensive possession ended in points for Republic, and that was indicative of how Friday night’s football district quarterfinal would go. The Tigers blasted Parkview 52-8 at home to advance to the district semifinals.

Defense and plenty of offense was the name of the game for the Ash Grove High School football team as they hosted and defeated Diamond, 41-0 in their opening round Class 1, District 3 payoff game on Friday, Oct. 28.

Three Republic runners finished in the top 10 at the COC cross country meet in Nixa. Gracie Troester was the top finisher for Republic, taking second place with a personal-best time of 19:00.63. Only Abigail Street of Webb City was faster, winning the COC title.

Republic traveled to Rogersville and came home with a 2-1 victory Thursday, snapping the Wildcats' 14-game winning streak in the process. Before last week, Republic had not scored a goal on artificial turf all season, but they've scored four in the last two games on artificial surface.

Brady Lewis won a gold and a bronze medal at the Central Ozark Conference swim championship in Webb City. Lewis won the 100-yard butterfly, breaking the COC meet record with a time of 57.41. He also finished third in the 100-yard backstroke.

Republic’s best volleyball season in 10 years ended in a loss to top-seeded Nixa at home Monday night. Nixa overcame large deficits in two different sets to advance, 25-22, 21-25, 25-20, 25-21. The loss eliminated Republic from contention, ending their season with a 26-9 record.
