The Republic Lady Tigers won their third tournament in the month of December, and their biggest so far, with four straight wins in the Pink & White Lady Classic. Republic (2) beat unseeded Aurora, Lebanon (7), and Grain Valley (1) to capture the title.

Republic basketball boys opened with a big win, suffered a setback in the semifinals, but rebounded for a third-place finish in the Republic Invitational with a 70-64 win against Rolla, Saturday.

Nicholson named tournament MVP, averaged 28.3 points per game
For the second straight season, the Ash Grove boys’ basketball team is the Morrisville Tournament champions, after their 47-37 win over Chadwick at Morrisville on Saturday, Dec. 3.

Five Republic athletes have committed to play college sports. Kaemyn Bekemeier will play basketball at Missouri State University. Kailey Manes and Claire Esther will attend the University of Texas-Tyler to play volleyball. EmmaLee Essary will play softball at Chipola College in Florida.

Republic fell into an early hole against Missouri's top-ranked team in Class 5, and wasn't able to dig its way out in a 28-14 loss at Carthage. The loss ended Republic's season in the district championship game with an 8-4 record — its best record in 15 years.
