The Federal Communications Commission authorized more than $175 million funding over 10 years for the expansion of rural broadband has been authorized for Missouri. These investments will connect over 68,000 unserved rural homes and businesses in Missouri.
A public hearing was held Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Ash Grove City Hall regarding the annexation of rights-of-way heading east out of Ash Grove along Highway 160, to the east side of Lyndall Hall’s property.

Summer school at Ash Grove just got a whole lot longer. The Ash Grove Board of Education voted unanimously at its Feb. 24 meeting to double the amount of time for summer school—starting this coming summer—from two weeks to four.

A Republic woman died when the mobile home she was living in at Republic’s Alpine Village was destroyed by fire Wednesday, Feb. 19. Her husband managed to escape the fire, and was reported as having been transported to a hospital with smoke inhalation and minor burns.
The Republic branch of the Springfield-Greene County Library is under new management. Tysha Shay, an Ash Grove native, is the new manager of the library branch; she took over the position on Monday, Jan. 6.
When Clever native Brett Keeling, 19, was killed in a vehicle crash in January of 2018, his family created a scholarship in his honor – the Brett Keeling Memorial Scholarship – which provides up to $1,000 in college tuition to one graduating Clever High School senior every year.
Shine, Inc. (formerly A Night to Shine) will open in its new location at 116 West Main Street, Ash Grove, on Saturday, Feb. 22. The non-profit will be operating a dress boutique in a space above Griffin Industries. Stuart Coutchie, owner of Griffin Industries, donated the space for Shine, Inc.
