Republic competed in two events in the Class 5 state track meet Saturday in Columbia, but fell short of the medal stand in both. The top finish for Republic was by Jasmyn Douglas in the 800-meter run. She finished 11th with a time of 2:25.03.
Finley Chastain, daughter of Ash Grove native Shawn Chastain, was successful in defending her national title at the Junior NBA National Championship 3-on-3 competition.
The Willard High School baseball team continues to roll as they knocked off both Raymore-Peculiar and Lee’s Summit West to win the Class 5, District 12 title last week in Lee’s Summit.
Republic’s track and field team qualified for state in two events this year — and sophomore Jasmyn Douglas is a part of both of them. Douglas first qualified as a member of the 4x800m relay team, which finished fourth at sectionals in Waynesville.
The final high school sport ended for Ash Grove as their track team took part in the Class 2, state track meet in Jefferson City on Friday, May 17, and Saturday, May 18.

Willard High School sports was in full swing last week, as the boys golf team competed at sectionals, the girls soccer team had four games and the baseball team competed in two games.

The Ash Grove High School baseball season came to an end at the Class 2, District 7 tournament in Joplin on Friday, May 10.

Twelve Republic athletes will compete at the state sectionals in Waynesville Saturday after qualifying at the district meet in Carthage. Republic had one district champion: Jasmyn Douglas won the 800-meter run and broke her own school record in the process.
The Willard High School baseball team continues to look good, picking up three more wins last week and being named as the second seed in their upcoming Class 5, District 12 tournament.
