The Republic tennis team couldn’t have started its season any better than it did against Mt. Vernon, Monett and Clever. Not only did the Tigers win Mt. Vernon Tournament championships in all nine flights — three doubles and six singles — they did it without losing a match all day.
It took a while for Republic to get started, but the Lady Tigers heated up in the second half against Springfield Parkview for a 6–0 win. Clara Fronabarger scored four goals for the Lady
Republic’s offense broke out for seven runs against Branson in its first win, but struggled in two other losses. The Tigers have nine runs in their first four games.

The Republic Lady Tigers soccer team jumped into the new season with four matches in five days, and they came away with a split. After losing the season opener against Springfield Glendale, Republic rebounded with wins over Rolla (in overtime penalty kicks) and Rogersville.
Making their first appearance at the Show-Me Showdown since 2012, and their first-ever in Class 5, the Republic Lady Tigers went cold at just the wrong time. Republic made just 20 percent of its shots from the floor in the state semifinal against North Kansas City, suffering a 42–29 loss.
Republic students filled their section nearly to the top during the district championship double-header against the Willard Tigers and Lady Tigers. In two tight games, the host Republic came away with the victory. See page 8 for more information.
The regular season has come to an end for both the Willard High School girls and boys basketball teams, as the Lady Tigers knocked off Branson and the Tigers defeated Branson, but lost to Joplin and Rogersville.
Willard hosted Branson on Feb. 18, and beat the Lady Pirates, 47-29.
The 2018-19 basketball season has come to an end as the Ash Grove Lady Pirates lost to Miller in the Class 2, District 11 champi- onship game; and the boys lost to Verona in an open- ing round district game in Marionville last week.
