Two Republic wrestlers earned medals at the Central Ozark Conference championships Satur- day in Ozark. Jonathan O’Connell finished first in the 138-pound weight class, and Michael Taylor finished second at 132 pounds.
The Willard High School girls basketball team trav- eled to Rogersville to take part in the Rogersville Lady Classic and the boys team hosted Bolivar on Jan. 18.

Broc Smith scored 28 points to lead four Repub- lic players in double-figure scoring, helping the Tigers cruise past Sedalia Smith- Cotton at home, 72–53.
Jonathan O’Connell’s 100th career victory high- lighted Republic’s perfor- mance at the Columbia Hickman Invitational. The Tigers took only four wres- tlers to Columbia, but two of them came away with victories.
The Ash Grove High School girls basketball team traveled to Marionville last week and came home with the championship at the Lady Comet Classic, in a winning week for the Lady Pirate squad.
The Republic Tigers jumped into conference basketball season with a couple of wins at home. Against Neosho in the Central Ozark Conference opener, Broc Smith led the Tigers with 23 points.
The Ash Grove High School girls basketball team split their two games last week, while the boys team lost two games in the Crane Invitational Tournament.
The Ash Grove boys and girls basketball teams finished up their run at the Walnut Grove Holiday Classic, with the Pirates knocking off Niangua, while the Lady Pirates lost to Fordland.
The Willard High School girls and boys basketball teams are in Springfield this week to take part in the Blue and Gold Tournament on the boys side, and the Pink and White Lady Classic.
