The Willard High School girls basketball team added another top notch win to their resume, knocking off Rogersville Dec. 6, while the boys team lost in overtime to Parkview on Dec. 5 but beat Hillcrest Dec. 7.
The Republic basketball team got to play the roles of both David and Goliath in two games last week. The Tigers beat Class 3 Clever Tuesday night before losing to defending Oklahoma state champion Tulsa Memorial Friday in the Ozark Mountain Shootout in Springfield.
The Lady Tigers basketball team rebounded in a big way after an 0–2 start to their season. Republic swept through its bracket of the Stephanie Phillips Classic tournament in Springfield, winning three games to capture the championship.

The Willard High School boys basketball team knew that they had to win by 18 points in order to win the Tri-State Classic, they won by 20 to secure the championship on Dec. 1 in Willard.
Five Republic football players earned all-league honors in voting by coaches in the Central Ozark Conference. Two Tigers—receiver Cam Flood and defensive back Jaden Duvall––were named to the second team. Three others were named to the third team—one on offense and two on defense.
After finishing as state runner-up in 2018, Jonathan O’Connell has set a goal to remain undefeated this season, at least through the Republic Invitational in January. He’s off to a strong start.
Republic opened its new basketball season under new coach Tim Brown with a third-place finish at the Republic Invitational. The Tigers opened the season with a blowout win over Marshfield before losing to eventual tournament champion Rolla in the semifinals.
