Both the Ash Grove High School volleyball team and football team were in action last week, with volleyball picking up two wins and the football team picking up a nail-biting win at Lockwood.

The Lady Tigers tennis team is getting hot at just the right time. Republic edged Ozark by a half point at the Central Ozark Conference Tournament Friday to capture the title for the second time in a row and the third time in four years.
Republic’s cross country team achieved eight personal records at the Camdenton Laker Invitational Saturday. The personal bests included a medal-winning performance by Miha Nambara, who finished her race in 19:48, taking third. She has medaled in every race this year.
A slow start and a rough finish overshadowed a great second set for Republic volleyball in a 16-25, 25-17, 12-25 loss at Carthage.
“We have to be ready to go – that first serve receive or the first set,” she said. “We cannot have a first set to get a warm-up.”
Republic’s offense was very good but Ozark’s was a little better. Republic missed two extra points that proved costly in a 51-49 loss at Ozark, Friday.

Republic softball began its week with two conference wins, knocking off Willard and Joplin. Against Willard, Avery Romans pitched a complete game and Jaiden Gibbs homered to help Republic pick up a 7-3 win. Kaitlyn Ragsdale, Megan Weis, A.J.
Republic opened its conference season with a win at home against Neosho, beat- ing the Wildcats 25-16, 25- 16. The win moved Republic over the .500 mark for the season at 5-4-1.
Republic tennis recognized its four seniors, then swept conference rival Webb City 9-0. The win improved Republic’s record to 7-3 overall and 7-1 in conference play.
Republic watched a 24-point lead slip away in the fourth quarter, then marched 80 yards to snatch a victory back from Willard in a wild, 48-43 win in Republic, Friday.
